Karen at HK International Arts and Antiques Fair, Hong Kong


The annual Hong Kong International Art and Antiques Fair (HKIAAF 08') were held in the prestigious Hong Kong Conventional and Exhibition Centre. HKIAAF is the pioneer of art fairs in Hong Kong and is now recognized as Asia's premier art fair presenting a unique combination of Art and Antiques. A selected group of leading local and international artists and galleries were invited, ranging from antique specialists and contemporary art, including Karen's. It coincided with Sotheby's Autumn auction and attracted a total of over 18,000 visitors and achieved sales of over $100 million HKD ($12.8 million USD).

Karen's fresco at the CERAM

Amazing, Spectacular, amusing... there is no shortage of adjectives to describe Karen's work at the CERAM Business School in Sophia Antipolis. it is reminiscent of the comic strips of our childhood days, the American dream, our chewing gum societies. And yet it was not an easy challenge for this Franco-American artist, when she was chosen by CERAM's students to paint a fresco. The enthusiastic artist wanted to show these students how she worked. And CERAM's Head,Alice Guilhon, had her own ideas on what was suitabe for a business school - the fresco had to be painted on the white wall of the VIP room and include identifianble references.

Karen began working on 11 April 2008. She traced the outlines of her monumental fresco freehand, and students soon added some sketches. And today 27 Novemeber, the result is astounding. The world of business is represented around the well-known CERAM logo. From economic intelligence to Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe, from Mickey to Superman, from Norman Rockwell to Bill Gates. Karen's world is colourful, in pure pop art tradition. We bet that if a guest gets bored during one of CERAM's numerous meetings, he or she will be entertained by Karen's APY'ART fresco.

Karen at Chicago Sister Cities International, United States

Many of Karen's pop art are inspired by century iconic figures. The photos below illustrate 3 paintings by Karen that were inspired by the presence of President Barack Obama and the paintings were intertwined with Karen's eminent use of humorous illustrations e.g., Disney characters and Superman. They were adored by many at Chicago and during the successful Chicago Sister Cities International exhibition.

Karen's Dream and Passion Art Exhibition in Singapore

Karen held her Dream and Passion exhibition on the 5 - 30 November, 2005 at the Royal Plaza on Scotts in Singapore, where 10% of the proceeds went to the Autism Children's Centre. The cover of the invitation features one of Karen's favourite paintings, Blue Tigers, of her L'exotism series. It combines her love for nature and animals on a 160 x 130 cm canvas.

Karen was invited to attend The French Affair with Singapore at Singapore in 2005. It was organized by the Consulat General de France of Singapore, French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore, and the Alliance Francaise. The picture on the left shows the cover of the booklet and the picture on the right was taken when at the reception.
